Tough Luck being a woman  these days ,with the increase of fuel the precious Unga commodity  the climate change brings something new for us women especially us young women.

I read recently that in Kampala climate change has been blamed for increasing social problems most recently and I must say astonishingly  is the increase of early marriges.

In times of food crises some  families distressfully  sell off their their daughters to secure dowry for survival. In some cases women and men elope to avoid famine and poverty, while many rich men are ready to take young women. This marriages have been referred to as famine marriages. They  have lead to  high rates of high school drops outs and exposes people to sexually transmitted infections.

Famine marriages take's  place during the dry and festive seasons where families marry off their daughters in order to reduce the number of people to feed and to obtain gifts paid in form of dowry.

I wonder why women have to be victims of circumstances............................
