Discrimination and violence against women have forever characterised kenya both in public and private spheres. The present and the previous regimes never marked any changes that would mark the exit of the cry of our dear women .

With the approach of this very important day of celebration in our country and in the whole world, alot still needs to be desired especially from the medical fratanities., ministry of health and public health sectors. Many have asked and still continue to ask for a more human rights based approach to a whole lot of issues including the minority groups almost being excluded in the fight against this scourge, and if you may all allow me, i want to zero it down to the sexual minorities who have for ever been living in the peripheries.

Here we go again, why can't people live their lives to the fullest and stop poking their noses at the affairs of others?? What has your sexual prefrence or better yet my sexual prefrence got to do with you? The sooner you can answer this question, the better it will be for all of us out here who are already tired of listening to all these commentaries that are being made about HOMOSEXUALITY.

Africa is a graveyard of human rights laws that seem to be quashed everyday. Rights abuses and impunity have had a totally zero redress. The protection of rights listed in the African Charter rested entirely on the African Commission with no judicial forum for enforcement. The ACPHR seems to be the missing link in the African Human rights mechanism and clearly shows how African States have been reluctant to realise it.

Emerging out of the assumption that men are highly sexual is the construction of the domain of sexuality as masculine and a male preserve. Women are viewed as "asexual" and therefore strangers in sexuality, waiting on men to "show them the ropes". They are expected to be centered around relationships and love and only legitimised for them if attached to these hence a lack of positive discourse on female sexuality.

It is very sad at the way things are turning out to be in this very society that applaudes human rights. The incident back in Siaya should act as an eyeopener to all the animosities that are taking place. I write with so much bitterness and call for all the human rights defenders, activists, and all LGBTI organisations to put up a fight against all these barbaric behaviors. Violence against lesbians is a global problem that needs serious interventions.
