The discussion on the issues of homosexuality has been rife in Kenya and Africa in general, being a topic that doesnt seem to end with often very diverse convictions for or against gay unions. Makau Mutua in his article'why homesexuality is not a threat to family '. www.nation.co.ke/oped/Opinion/-/440808/682800/-/4pl1ab/-/index.html expounded his views why contrary to commonly held beliefs, gay unions are not to blame for family break down. Have your say on this. What are your views on gay relationships? The legislations on the same?

Its undebatable in our community
The way we behave varies, the issues of ethical relativism applies in all situations including in our cultures, which are becoming modernized and some of them ignored as time goes by.
East Africa being predominantly Christian and Muslim religions, will view this as wrong for some time until proved right. I don’t know if someone heard about the situation in Nigeria sometime back when the Muslim community wanted to stone a woman who had supposedly committed adultery. The Nigerians had to oppose this because the kind of sentence was no longer applicable whether right or wrong!
I however think that the fight for the rights of homosexuals will be a process, and discrimination is not the right way to handle them.Haven't we African women had enough of discrimination?<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
Homosexuality
This is a great debate and a fight for rights internationally. I
however, as a Christian do not think it’s right. Just like the Bible's
condemnation of murder, adultery and premarital sex.
I have some bible verses that open up about homosexuality.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
Gen 19:5-8 "and they called to Lot and said to him, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.' But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him, and said, 'Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly.'"Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have
committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death." 1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals" 1 Tim1:9-10 "realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers" Rom 1:26-27 "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."
It however remains an individual’s decision to decide what is wrong and what
right.
Homosexuality and Christianity
This subject will be for a while a very disturbing and troubling topic. That being established, I will share my thoughts.
We need to realise that:-
1. Christianity is one third of the population of the world. I need not say more. Simply, not everyone is a Christian
http://www.religioustolerance.org/worldrel.htm
2. On the Bible issue, look at this letter to a clergy.
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can.
When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I
simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an
abomination. End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific
laws and how to best follow them.
a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They
claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in
Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair
price for her?
c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her
period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do
I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and
female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend
of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you
clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2
clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill
him myself?
f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality.
I don't agree. Can you settle this?
g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a
defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my
vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair
around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev
19:27. How should they die?
i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me
unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different
crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of
two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to
curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the
trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16)
Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we
do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you
can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and
unchanging.
I believe that, this being an online community, we have the capability of finding out what opinions exist out there and more importantly why they are there.
As a Christian, I find that there is and has always been a whole lot of misunderstanding on what the Bible says and doesnt say. Even Churches differ on stuff, leading them to being different in their own ways, all the same (claiming to) preaching the Word of God.
I go back to one true thing. Jesus came to undo what damage the Old Testament had done. The Bible is and has previously been used to discriminate against people. For example, the Black Revolution in the US was at one point condemned by using the Bible!!! Just do your research.
In plain terms, I am a christian. I do agree that a small part of me will never know truly whether I am doing the right thing, but for now, I leave it as is.
Jesus taught the message of LOVE. Period. He even explicilty gave Two Commandments. I dont have to remind you that.
All the same, as a saying goes (and mind my language):
"Opinions are like Arse-holes....everyone has one!!!"
GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! HOMOSEXUALITY
Here we go again, why can't people live their lives to the fullest and stop poking their noses at the affairs of others?? What has your sexual prefrence or better yet my sexual prefrence got to do with you? The sooner you can answer this question, the better it will be for all of us out here who are already tired of listening to all these commentaries that are being made about HOMOSEXUALITY. What moral sense of dictation does the media or anyonelse have to say about what is wrong and what is'nt in this society.Just think about this the next time you are out there pointing fingers about homosexuality and how wrong it is, if you are able to count the number of self seekers, gluttons and many others that are out there to enrich themselves at the expense of tax payers in this very coalition government of ours today, you would be buffled and even loose count of the thugs. Why then do we seem to get sleepless nights on the issue of homosexuality? Why haven't the people with acclaimed good morals with a ''holier than thou attitude'' not stormed parliament to have the thugs there answer as to why they have squandered millions of tax payers monies through endless saga's which we all know Goldenberg and Anglo leasing to name but afew? or theft is never considered as sin that needs to be condemned? Or better yet, confront the parents or even relatives of the so called waheshimiwas to ask them whether they know of their dear sons/daughters roles in squandering this millions and whether they are beneficiaries of these huge lumps of monies?
Sin according to the Bible still remains as sin regardless of whether you stole 10 shillings or participated in Anglo leasing. There is no greater sin then the other. So let us all be carefull when condeming homosexuality.I leave it up to you now......you can continue commmenting and hating but one thing is for sure, they are living their lives to the maximum, SO PLEASE LIVE YOURS!!!!!!!
