Writing an Essay, for me was quite an enjoyable experience. Taking real life situations and making them your own story with as many additions and exaggerations as you like. I enjoyed using my imagination to bring things to life. Real life experiences can also sometimes be used to share stories and talk about issues of concern. YWLI was running a school out reach program following a session we had with one of the local national schools. During that session it was inspiring to see the potential the girls in the school had.

 In 2005, i knew of a very young girl in my village 'Petty'. she was beautiful, vibrant, slim and all that one could imagine as that innocent beauty of a class six girl, experiencing puberty. though from a poor family one could hardly tell, just because of how clean and smart she had kept herself. for those who come from the village, you know what i mean.

Last week I had the opportunity of reading (actually for the first time) 'Chobo Magazine'. This is a football magazine that speaks about football and the youth in Kenya. It was exciting to see the faces of young people in our communities using thier talents to become both skilled professionals and develop themselves. There was a feature on womens football in Kenya. The article spoke to the need to open up more opportunities for the young women in football, the challenges and also spoke about the women who are already playing pro.

When I sit down to reflect on the struggle and major brainstorming my collegues and I went through as we tried to find a safe shelter for one of the girls we work with it was amazing. We knocked heads together thinking of the possibilites and still we were not able to come up with concrete solutions to ensure that she finds a safe place that she can call home and that she can continue to get adequate support in order to ensure she remains independent and still have the ability to make choices in regards to her life.
