The past one month or so I have been bumping into expectant women and was wondering what our current birth rate is? In my circles of friends, quite a number have become mothers and are experiencing the joys of bring up a child. Which is in order as we are within the child bearing age. This got me re-thinking, how big or small would I want my family to be? The number of children that I want to have, what implication does it have on me as a parent, my extended family, my community, my country and the world at large.

YWLI held our first National Young Woman's Forum and Human Rights Festival on the 28th and 29th October 2010. Both were exciting and vibant activities with lots of energy and it brought hope to a new dawn. We always hear about the young turks, well I call them young-ish...because they are often not that young! Well as young women this was a forum for us, a space for young women from all over Kenya, I felt it brought the face and the issues of young women and put them on the table for discussion. We took a stand as young women by young women!!

Its HER time now......

Last week I had the opportunity of reading (actually for the first time) 'Chobo Magazine'. This is a football magazine that speaks about football and the youth in Kenya. It was exciting to see the faces of young people in our communities using thier talents to become both skilled professionals and develop themselves. There was a feature on womens football in Kenya. The article spoke to the need to open up more opportunities for the young women in football, the challenges and also spoke about the women who are already playing pro.
