So I am back to the office after a fulfilling experience in Malindi. I had received several calls from some of my friends who sometimes consider me their " Love doctor"....I often wonder why because I too am looking for answers to some of the very questions they ask!!! Its always about this thing called love, courtship, relationships and how to keep it going.....

This week, as i was going through the newspaper i noticed many offers for valentines. From phones to dinner offers, holiday etc. It got me thinking, what really is valentine's day? Before and after valentine's, where does the love go? why is there so much pressure amongest couples over valentine's day?

According to the official 2009 population census, Kenya population stands at 38,610,097 out of which the male are 19,192,458 while the femal stand at 19,417,639 (http://www.nation.co.ke/New/-/1056/1000340/-/1114rlz/-/index.html). If my math is right it means that roughly women in Kenya are more than men by 225,181. Which in my opinion is not such a big dal consdering the margin of error, the fact that women live longer than men and thus you will have more older women than men and so forth.

Reacting to the one of the blogs shared last week, I was saddened by the truth that young women and girls would rather contract HIV than fall pregnant. I was taken back by the alarming figures shared, but it is the sad truth. I remember when I was in school and the thought of falling pregnant was like a death sentence. It was a death sentence because your peers, parents and those around you had evidence that you were sexually active. This was the biggest fear and the thought of the shame and stigma that one would face led many girls in our schools to do many life threatening things.

The fact that my father has been  A WOMAN

There is always good memories of her within me.

she sacrificed her time for me

she was always there when i got hurt and roughed up

she always comforted me

Good manners is the fabric that she gave to me

she instilled calmness in me

Her presence always left me energized
