Introduction

We the parents of Uganda again come together with a united voice to state our position on the issue of homosexuality and the Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

In my musings and crafting of citizenship rights for women in Kenya, I am reminded that the 'personal is political'. This feminist principle that came into being in the 1960s and 1970s has once again come alive in the current Kenyan consitutional debate and specifically on the issue of citizenship. A few days ago, I visited the Immigration Department at Nyayo house to renew my passport. One of my brothers happened to be applying for his passport at the same time.

I have been attending a training on human rights research, writing and editing orgnaized by the African Human Rights Consortium -AHRC in Gaborone, Botswana. The institute seeks to produce effective media and NGO persons who will use research to push forward their advocacy work on human rights violations in their countries. But the institute story is for another day.
