- Biography
Nicole is energetic, innovative and with a passion for making life better for young women and girls. Nicole initiated the young mothers' initiative while she was interning with YWLI in 2007. She is currently combining the work on young mothers and another internship initiative 'Binti' into the sexuality and masculinity program. She has been trained in handling both child and adult survivors of sexual violence and is currently pursuing a diploma in Community Development. Through YWLI capacity development, she has gained skills in radio program production and documentation of human rights abuses. Nicole believes in ensuring that young women and girls are given the opportunity to make a change in their lives and in their communities. She works with the aim of offering young women and girls the importance of information in the decisions that they make and ensuring that they are aware of their rights as equal members of the society regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, social background or level of education.
I hope to one day see a society where a man will not look at me because of the length of my skirt, my physical anatomy or my beauty but look at me because he can see the vibrancy, confidence and power that I hold as I walk past him. Young women and girls have so much power and potential to make a positive change but need the support and information to bring out their full potential. We are the change: here and now!
